Meet Chuck Nagel
Chuck Nagel is Head of Radiant Services at Radiation Detection Company (RDC), where he leads the advancement and delivery of Radiant, RDC’s real-time dosimetry solution for healthcare teams working in high-exposure environments.
Drawing on nearly two decades of experience in hospital imaging, radiation safety, and clinical leadership, Chuck brings a firsthand understanding of the challenges clinicians and healthcare organizations face when managing occupational radiation exposure. In his role, he helps connect that experience with Radiant’s mission: giving clinicians immediate, actionable exposure data that supports informed decision-making and safer practices during procedures.
Professional Experience
Before joining RDC, Chuck spent nearly two decades in leadership roles across HCA Healthcare’s West Florida Division. Most recently, he served as Director of Imaging Services and Emergency Management Chair for HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital and later expanded his responsibilities to serve as Imaging Director at HCA Florida St. Petersburg General Hospital.
Across these facilities, Chuck oversaw a broad range of imaging departments, including Interventional Radiology, Diagnostic Imaging, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Echocardiography, and Mammography. This experience gave him an in-depth understanding of the clinical workflows, operational pressures, and radiation safety considerations facing imaging teams every day.
Chuck also held advisory roles with the HCA Corporate Radiology Advisory Council and the HealthTrust Radiology Advisory Board, helping shape clinical standards, technology adoption, and purchasing strategies across national healthcare networks.
Earlier in his career, Chuck served as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point and as a Division Subject Matter Expert for HCA’s West Florida Division. He provided leadership in nuclear medicine and contributed to company-wide radiation safety program updates, further developing the expertise in occupational radiation safety that he brings to RDC today.
Chuck’s Impact at RDC
As Head of Radiant Services, Chuck leads RDC’s efforts to help healthcare organizations move from simply measuring occupational radiation exposure to understanding and acting on it in real time.
Radiant provides clinicians with continuously updated exposure data during procedures, helping teams recognize changing conditions, make timely adjustments, and reinforce safer practices without disrupting clinical workflows.
Chuck’s combination of clinical experience, radiation safety expertise, and healthcare leadership helps ensure Radiant is built and delivered around the realities of the clinicians and departments it serves. By working closely with healthcare leaders and frontline teams, he helps organizations use real-time dosimetry to strengthen radiation awareness, support long-term workforce protection, and create a more proactive culture of safety.
Through his leadership of Radiant Services, Chuck is helping RDC advance the next generation of occupational radiation safety – turning exposure data into immediate, meaningful action.
